Ascites production is the most cost effective method in generating antibody from your hybridoma cell line. At Bionexus, primed adult Balb/c, or any other requested strain of mouse, are infected with your cell line. As a result, ascites fluid develops over the next 10-14 days and is harvested by gentle aspiration of the abdominal cavity. With each successive tap, the quantity of ascites fluid decreases, while the antibody concentration increases. The last ascites collection contains most of your antibody. The pooled ascites taps are then clarified by centrifugation and gauze filtration. Average ascites volumes are 3-5 mL/mouse at an expected antibody concentration of 3-5 mg/mL.
